A Cold River and a Quiet Morning in Ramsau

One morning, we woke up early and drove out to Lake Hintersee. I had hoped for a colorful sunrise, the kind that paints the sky in pinks and orange...but the light stayed soft and muted. Still, the lake had this calm, magical vibe, with mountains reflecting quietly in the still water. It was peaceful in its own way.

Later that day, we stayed around Ramsau, a charming village surrounded by forests and mountains. We went hiking nearby and followed a trail along a mountain river. The water looked so clear and inviting, even though I knew it would be freezing.

I stepped in, then sat halfway into the river. It was insanely cold—probably one of the coldest rivers I’ve ever experienced. My whole body hurt for a few seconds, like needles all over my skin. It was a shock at first, but after a few seconds, it started to feel surprisingly refreshing. I told myself it had to be good for circulation or something... and honestly, it felt kind of amazing. Painful, but in a good way.

Along the hike, we also crossed a suspension bridge. It looked really cool hanging above the river, surrounded by alpine scenery. We stopped there for a bit, took some photos, and just appreciated the moment.

It’s a day I didn't forget; not because everything went perfectly, but because of how alive I felt from the cold water, the fresh air, and just being out there in the mountains.
