A place I didn't want to leave

12–21 Dec 2025

Siargao wasn't originally a place I knew much about, but a friend recommended it as one of the best surfing destinations in the Philippines. After reading a little more about the island and seeing its beautiful, wild landscapes, I became really curious to discover it for myself. And I'm so glad I did!

I spent almost a week there, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, the tropical scenery, and the lovely island vibe. It was early December, just around the transition from the rainy season, and although the weather could still be unpredictable, the temperatures were pleasant and it wasn't unbearably hot.

Of course, I had to give surfing another try! My previous experiences hadn't been particularly enjoyable, mostly because of big waves and strong currents, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like it this time. But I took a few surfing lessons, and for the first time, I actually really enjoyed it! It felt so good to finally have a positive experience in the water.

What I loved most about Siargao was the overall feeling of being there. The island had such a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere, and I quickly felt comfortable. I could easily imagine spending weeks or even months there, working remotely, surfing, exploring, and enjoying that slower rhythm of life.

Almost a week went by far too quickly. I would have happily stayed much longer, and Siargao is definitely one of those places I'd love to return to someday!
