Between snowy peaks and the sea
27 Dec 2025 – 20 Jan 2026
After spending Christmas in Istanbul, we continued our winter campervan adventure towards the south of Turkey, hoping to find some sunshine and warmer temperatures along the Mediterranean coast.
We spent some time around Antalya, went rock climbing in Geyikbayırı, and celebrated New Year's Eve in Çıralı. From there, we slowly made our way along the beautiful coastline, stopping in places like Karaöz, Finike, Kaş, Muğla, and some lovely little bays along the way.
One of the things I loved most about this trip was the incredible combination of mountains and sea. We climbed Tahtalı (2,365 m) and Babadağ (1,969 m), and both were covered in snow! Standing up there, surrounded by snowy mountain scenery while looking down at the Mediterranean Sea in the distance, was absolutely breathtaking. There's something so special about enjoying winter in the mountains and having the beautiful blue sea right there in front of you!
And oh, how happy I was to be by the Mediterranean again! We'd hoped for warmer weather, but winter was definitely still winter, even in southern Turkey. Some days were only around 10°C or even colder, although we did get a few lovely days reaching 15–16°C. And of course, I couldn't resist going for a swim! The water was cold, but I was just so happy to be back in the sea.
Another thing that made this journey so special was living in the campervan for four entire weeks. We didn't stay in dedicated campsites, simply finding places to park along the way and stopping whenever we needed to refill our water and supplies. I loved that feeling of freedom, having our little home with us wherever we went, waking up in beautiful places, and deciding where to go next.
The people we met were welcoming, the food was delicious, and there was always something new to discover. Eventually, we made our way towards Kuşadası, on the Aegean coast, before continuing north through Bulgaria and back to Romania.
Four weeks on the road, from snowy mountain peaks to beautiful beaches, climbing adventures, little coastal villages, and so many wonderful moments in between. It was such an incredible experience, and one that left me with plenty of beautiful memories!
