Summer nights in the mountains
20–21 Jun 2026
Towards the end of June, we headed back to the Retezat Mountains, just in time for the beautiful rhododendron bloom! It's one of my favorite times to be in the mountains, when the slopes turn pink and the landscapes become even more photogenic.
We decided to camp by Lake Bucura, something I hadn't done in such a long time, and I was so happy to finally spend another night in a tent, surrounded by mountains. We hiked along the ridges and up to Peleaga Peak, enjoying the gorgeous scenery, photographing the flowers, and catching a beautiful sunset.
The next day brought a little adventure! We decided to hike towards Judele Peak, an area I had never explored before. Unlike Peleaga, which I'd climbed in the past, this was completely new to me, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. That made it even more exciting, and it turned out to be such a fun and lovely experience!
It was a wonderful couple of days, with beautiful mountain views, colorful flowers, a night by the lake, and plenty of opportunities to take photographs.
