From familiar streets to wild shores
19–25 Sep 2026
The campervan adventure continued along the beautiful northern coast of Spain, starting with a place I was especially happy to return to: San Sebastián!
I'd first visited the city back in 2018, when I was living in Spain, and it felt so lovely to be there again after all these years. I enjoyed wandering around the city, admiring the familiar views, and watching another beautiful sunset over the bay. Some places are just as wonderful the second time around!
From there, we continued towards Zumaia, where we spent the night in our campervan and explored the spectacular Basque coastline. One of the highlights was a lovely hike along the coast between Deba and Zumaia, passing through Sakoneta and its incredible flysch formations. The dramatic cliffs, unusual rock layers, and beautiful ocean views made this stretch of coastline absolutely fascinating to photograph.
We then continued west towards San Vicente de la Barquera, discovering more beautiful coastal scenery along the way. We spent some time around the beaches near Berellín, enjoying the ocean, the interesting rock formations, and the peaceful atmosphere of this part of northern Spain.
I absolutely loved exploring this coastline, with its wild beaches, dramatic cliffs, charming towns, and endless Atlantic views. It was such a lovely combination of revisiting a place full of memories and discovering completely new ones, all while enjoying the freedom of traveling with our little home on wheels!
