A long-awaited mountain adventure
25–30 Sep 2026
I'd been wishing of exploring the Picos de Europa for years, ever since I was living in Spain. Somehow, I never managed to make it there back then, so finally getting the chance to discover these mountains felt especially exciting!
And they certainly didn't disappoint! With beautiful weather on our side, we spent some amazing days hiking through the dramatic limestone landscapes and managed to climb three peaks: Peña Vieja, Torre de los Horcados Rojos, and Pico Tesorero. I absolutely loved the rugged scenery, the impressive mountain walls, and the incredible views from up there.
The journey also took us around to the other side of the national park, where I discovered the lovely little village of Riaño, surrounded by mountains and beautiful landscapes. It was such a pleasant surprise and another place I was happy to photograph.
I also got to visit the beautiful Covadonga Lakes, although there's still a famous panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Picos that I didn't manage to reach this time.
After waiting so many years to finally explore these mountains, I was incredibly happy to be there. Three beautiful summits, wonderful weather, and so many impressive landscapes to remember. And the best part is knowing that there's still plenty left to discover when I return!
