Snowboarding in the Pyrenees.. feeling closer to heaven

I went on an unforgettable trip to Formigal, in the Pyrenees, with a group of friends for a full week of skiing and snowboarding. It was my first time snowboarding outside of Romania, and I was immediately blown away by how big and well-organized the resort was. The mountains felt endless, the views were stunning, and the variety of slopes made every day exciting.

Compared to the smaller ski resorts I was used to back home, Formigal felt like a snow-covered playground with endless possibilities. Every morning, we’d gear up and head out full of energy, eager to explore new trails and find the best runs. I couldn’t believe how much space there was — it felt like we could ride for hours and still have more to discover.

One of the best parts was being with a fun group of friends. We’d come up with little “missions” each day — picking a far-off slope to reach and then finding our way back before the lifts closed. It turned into an adventure game, navigating our way through the mountain, sometimes splitting up and meeting again at a lift or a cozy mountain bar.

We shared a lot of laughs, wiped out in the snow a few times, and cheered each other on through steeper, more challenging parts. After long days on the slopes, we’d relax together in the evening.

That week in Formigal was a perfect mix of nature, sport, friendship, and new experiences. I knew I’d want to return to the Pyrenees again one day, but this first time will always feel special.
