Another wonderful adventure: Omu Peak(2505m), Caraiman Cross(2291m) and the Sphinx

I spent four unforgettable days in the Bucegi Mountains with Geena, my golden retriever, as autumn slowly gave way to winter. The air was crisp, and the landscape was a perfect blend of vibrant fall colors and the first signs of snow. We began our adventure by visiting Babele, the famous rock formations. The clouds swirled around the peaks, and the winds had a bite to them, but the views were spectacular, with the last of the autumn leaves clinging to the trees below.

We made our way to Caraiman Cross, and the sight of the large white cross perched on the ridge was breathtaking, standing tall against the sky. The view from the top offered a dramatic contrast, with snow beginning to dust the higher elevations, and I couldn’t resist capturing the moment in photos, feeling grateful to be surrounded by such beauty.

Finally, after a challenging but rewarding climb, we reached Omu Peak. It was Geena’s highest peak ever, and I could see the excitement in her eyes as she reached the summit with me. The weather had turned colder, but standing there, looking out over the mountains blanketed in early snow, made every step worth it. The trip was an incredible experience, sharing the mountains with Geena and experiencing the transition from fall to winter in such a majestic place.
