I made it to Machu Picchu...twice in a row, because I couldn’t take the risk of missing a good sunrise.
I bought two tickets for two consecutive mornings, just to give myself the best chance… and it worked. I got two beautiful sunrises, clear skies both days. In a way, I secretly wished for some dramatic clouds to add texture to the scene, but honestly, I was just so happy I could actually see it clearly.
Each day, I took a different trail, since you have to choose your route when booking your ticket. It made the experience feel even more complete, like I got to explore two different faces of the same sacred place.
Walking through those ancient paths as the light crept over the ruins, it felt surreal. I kept thinking, I can’t believe I’m here. A place I’d dreamed of for so long... and there I was, camera in hand, heart wide open.
