I’d heard about ZoukMX for years—like a whispered secret in the Zouk world, tucked away in paradise. It always felt so far… until suddenly, it wasn’t.
After spending two and a half unforgettable months in Rio, Brazil, the stars aligned. Mexico was just a step away, and I knew it was time. The timing was perfect—and the adventure was just beginning.
In Playa del Carmen, I reunited with two familiar faces from Europe: Anna, a lovely friend from Prague, and Melanie, a German dancer I had met back in Rio. We ended up staying together, and the energy between us felt effortless and warm. Through Anna, I also met Lada, another Prague local, and the four of us quickly formed a beautiful, strong bond that carried through the entire event.
The festival itself? Magical. Dancing under palm trees, salt in the air, music in our hearts. The crowd was 80% from the U.S., which made it the perfect opportunity to finally connect with the American Zouk scene—a whole new flavor of energy and style.
It was a week full of wild adventures, endless dancing, deep conversations, and sunsets that made your soul quiet for a second. ZoukMX quickly became one of the highlights of my year, and definitely one of the greatest events I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t just about the dancing—it was about the people, the energy, and the feeling of being exactly where I needed to be.
