It’s crazy how sometimes the universe aligns things perfectly. When I arrived in China, the first stop on my sabbatical year, I had the incredible chance to participate in and photograph the first-ever Brazilian Zouk festival in the country! Organized by April and Andy, the event was a beautiful introduction to the Zouk community in Shanghai.
What made the festival even more special were the incredible special guests — some of the best Zouk teachers from around the world. I had the chance to reconnect with Jorge and Renata after a few years, and that reunion sparked something deep within me. It reignited my passion for Brazilian Zouk and reminded me of my long-held dream to go to Rio and learn Zouk from Renata Pecanha’s school.
Although it would take a bit more time for that dream to come true, the feeling of rediscovering that passion and connection was so fulfilling. It was the perfect start to my sabbatical journey.
